Sail into adventure with the On the High Seas Hexploration Deck!
Packed with system‑neutral locations, traits, and nautical details, this deck helps you quickly generate dynamic maritime points of interest for any tabletop RPG. Each card offers evocative ideas—from bustling ports and mysterious islands to strange oceanic phenomena—perfect for filling hex or non‑hex maps and inspiring seafaring adventures. Whether your party is exploring uncharted waters, trading in distant harbors, or surviving encounters with creatures of the deep, these cards keep exploration fresh and unpredictable. Ideal for worldbuilding, session prep, or improvisation, On the High Seas brings your campaign’s waters to life.

  • It has 40 Location cards each with a picture on one side, and a series of options related to a place like that on the other side. Use your own creativity to customize and expand the result to fit your setting. Examples vary from a pirate town or a remote island (with more than just standard tropes) to a settlement on the back of a turtle or a harpys' sea-tower.
  • Trait cards can modify your locations to make them even more distinctive and interesting. Each side of each of these 10 cards has a theme. For example, you may start with a pirate town location, but choose the 'Sea Hag's Interest' for a few lists of creative ideas related to what a sea hag may want and do.Or what if there is a 'Spectral Island' nearby.
  • Reference cards provide distilled guidelines, extra charts and advice for sea-faring adventures: List of ships and their attributes, NPC Generator customized for pirates and seafaring types, island generator, weather generator, and more!

Note: The PDF is set up to be printed duplex (two-sided), 4 cards per page.  So the upper right card on the front side of each page matches up to the upper left card on the back side. There is also an extra area (1/8") on the edge of each card called a "bleed". It is intended to be cut away. It allows a card to still look good even if the cut isn't perfect or if the front and back prints aren't perfectly aligned.  A PDF is also included with each side of each card as a 3.75"x2.75" page (3.5"x2.5" plus a 1/8" bleed) so you can lay it out as you wish.
